An 81-year-old avid lottery player just came forward to claim the staggering $336.4 million Powerball jackpot. The current jackpot prize is the third largest in the history of the Powerball lottery. Ms Louise White kept her identity secret for several weeks after discovering that she was the lucky Powerball winner.
Ms White purchased the winning ticket at the Stop & Shop grocery store in Rhodes Island. Her lucky pick numbers matched both all the six winning numbers of the February 11 Powerball drawing. Ms White has chosen the lump sum payment and this will see him walk home with $210 million in cold hard cash.
Ms White bought the ticket on the night of the Powerball drawing as she did some light shopping at the grocery. She placed the ticket inside a bible that and later took it for safekeeping in a safe deposit box.
The cash payout is the largest lump sum payment amount in the history of the Powerball. The jovial Ms White was “very glad” of her luck and excited about how the winnings will make her family lifestyle better. Ms White said this during her appearance at a brief press conference.
Ms White has entered into the history books of Rhode Island as the largest jackpot winner in the history of the state. Ms. White did not disclose much about how she will spend the cash won. The state will benefit from the winner by receiving $14.7 million in terms of taxes.
