The $126 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Winner Tammy Pratt
The Sullivan County seems to be the favorite place of the Lady Luck because in the past two months, Tammy Pratt is another resident to have hit the Mega Millions Jackpot for a whopping $126 million! Originally from South Fallsburg, Tammy Pratt won the Mega Millions jackpot on the 27th February drawing, said lottery officials sometime in March this year. Pratt, a real estate broker and the sole winner of a whopping Mega Millions jackpot of $126 million, received her big fat check with a bouquet of red roses by lottery officials at the ceremony!
When Harold Diamond of Wurtsboro won a whopping $326 million in a Mega Millions jackpot in January, Tammy was super inspired and decided to invest in the extra tickets that made her a millionaire. She was quoted saying,
“I usually only buy one ticket, when the jackpot gets over $100 million … but when I saw Harold’s press conference, I saw that he bought 10 tickets. I have never done that. I’m happy I bought more than one ticket because it’s the second line (that won). I just had a feeling I should get more than one.”
After purchasing the tickets, the first thing she had on her mind was to check the draw results and said,
“I checked my ticket online. I saw that someone purchased the winning ticket in South Fallsburg. Then I saw it was purchased at the same store where I bought my ticket and I thought ‘Oh my God! Could the winner be me?’ Then I checked the numbers and saw that they all matched up! I was just in shock.”
She immediately called her husband to verify her ticket with the numbers mentioned on the draw and to her surprise, she was indeed the winner!
Oh, Those Lucky New Yorkers!
Pratt will be taking home a lump sum of 81.6 million and will save approximately $54 million after all the necessary deductions. The best part is that the win has made Pratt the 32nd New Yorker to have hit the Mega Millions jackpot since 2002! New York does seem to be the Lady Luck’s new lucky haven for lottery winners!
